Based on octatonic scales, Whirlwind is constructed out of fairly basic motifs. These musical ideas are quickly exchanged from one player to another, and the resulting composite melodies give a 'whirlwind' spacial effect. Quirky and fun sections contrasting with mysterious and fluid passages result in a comically dark work.
