Program Notes

 Fantasy in C is a lighthearted piece inspired by the character Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit. The piece is divided into different sections that are my own musical sketches of Bilbo in the different situations he finds himself in as he’s traveling through Middle Earth. The different sections occur chronologically with what’s happening in The Hobbit - but this piece is in no way a musical adaptation of the entire book. As his character develops, so does the music - traveling to different key centers and experiencing different changes in what’s happening in the accompaniment. The piece ends as Bilbo is making his merry way back to the Shire; an extra spring in his step as he gradually disappears in the distance.
